Hi everyone! This is Kartik (one of the founders), and I wanted to share a little bit about the background for our cause. In the summer after my freshman year, I traveled to the community of Asitey in Krobo, Ghana to tutor fourth-grade children in English reading/writing.
While I left home with little knowledge of what the trip would hold, I was soon immersed in the beauty of Krobo's culture and drawn to the children's enthusiasm to learn. Over the course of the trip, I gradually familiarized myself with the day-to-day ventures of these children beyond the scope of their classroom learning. These were children with dreams and aspirations that had the potential to achieve great heights with the proper educational resources.
This being said, I knew I could not stop there. Run For Opportunity's Second Annual 5K Run/Walk will be raising funds to support educational efforts for the children of Asitey.
